Laura Lappi "7x7 (Hope)" 2020
7x7 (Hope) explores issues of space in New York City, the cost of living, and housing, and how these factors impact many communities. With this sculpture, Lappi draws particular attention to immigrant communities and their living conditions in Queens.
By focusing on issues of social justice, the complex promise of hope, and urban life in our time, the artwork was installed near Meadow Lake at Flushing Meadow Corona Park in Queens in September 2020.
